Former Broadcast Journalist and News Presenter, Suan Jee (黄双喜), renowned for her compelling presence on news bulletins like “狮城6点半” and “十点新闻,” brings over a decade of media expertise.

From her impactful reporting on global events like the 2004 Asian Tsunami, to incisive series on contentious topics closer-to-home such as the opening of casinos in Singapore, Suan Jee has consistently delivered insightful narratives. Transitioning from journalism to public service, she honed her strength in simplifying complex policies for public understanding while serving in various government agencies. Suan Jee’s bilingual proficiency added to her experience in leading missions and hosting Mandarin-speaking media from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Apart from being a media coach, she was most recently part of the Chinese editorial team for SPH radio stations.

Chua Ying is our lead Mandarin consultant. She is one of The Media Consultants’ “OG” trainers who has focused her expertise on helping many key spokespersons polish their ability to engage with the media and their other stakeholders in Mandarin.

Her clients have primarily been from Singapore’s government organisations and agencies which recognise the benefits of engaging with the Chinese community in their mother tongue. Increasingly, private companies have also started requesting for Chua Ying to help them expand their capabilities in communicating to Mandarin-speaking customers.

She leverages on decades of experience as a News Anchor with Mediacorp’s Channel 8. You will find her a familiar face which used to front programmes such as “Good Morning, Singapore”, “Focus” and the nightly news at 6.30pm and 10pm. One of the highlights of her career was winning “Best News & Current Affairs Programme Presenter” in the Annual Star Awards Ceremony.

Suzanne is a skilled interviewer, adept at getting to the core of an issue through easy conversations with her guests. As the former host of CNA’s (previously Channel NewsAsia) Primetime Morning and AM Live, she has anchored many major breaking news stories and interviewed personalities as diverse as world leaders, including Tony Blair, John Howard, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, to international artistes like David Foster, Ian Mckellen, Alicia Keys, Jackie Chan and football legend, the late Pele.

Suzanne is an experienced speaker and moderator, having chaired panels at the World Knowledge Forum and Global Media Forum and other international symposiums. She has extensive experience as Master of Ceremony of various major events for banks, embassies and multinationals such as Standard Chartered, Samsung and LG.

As our most nurturing Communications Consultant, Suzanne has gently nudged many professionals to show their best selves on stage as a conference presenter and a skilled panelist or on-camera as a sharp spokesperson. She believes in passing it on and shares her experience passionately to students every chance she gets.
