English Pronunciation & Speech Training

“Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would,
Viscous, Viscount, load and broad,
Toward, to forward and to reward.
And your pronunciation’s ok,
When you correctly say croquet.”

It’s a short excerpt from a poem that illustrates how infuriating the English Language could be. Words spelt in similar fashion are not pronounced at all like each other. We believe learning proper pronunciation should begin from young. Our aim isn’t to get everyone sounding like the Queen of England. We want to get students aware of how to pronounce common words. Our consultants will teach basic phonetics, getting students aware of the different sounds contained within the English Language. This will also allow them to eventually check for themselves how words should be pronounced. In addition, students will learn how using different intonations convey a completely different message. Why stress, pauses and tones are important tools in getting the correct message across. All these, are part of developing good commuication skills. Tailored for students, the course will be taught using fun methodologies. They’ll get to record their practice sessions and play it back so they can hear for themselves what they actually sound like. There’ll be quizzes, fun poems and passages to read from.
