Crisis Communications

Crises and issues threaten the reputation of an organisation. Such events tend to happen quickly and unfold with an element of surprise, which could potentially cause harm to any company, its stakeholders and even to the general public. As such, being adequately prepared for such eventualities are paramount to the smooth running of the organisation and to minimise the negative fallout from the crisis or issue and negate any long term impact to the organisation. It is imperative, therefore, that companies arm themselves with the appropriate tools and techniques which could help them in difficult times. The Media Consultants recommend our client undergo a Crisis Communications Training to better understand the nature of crises so that they can begin to deal with threats before, during and after they have occurred. Our team will help to identify, assess, understand and cope with a serious situation, especially from the moment it first occurs to the point that recovery procedures start. While other consultancies also provide “crisis training”, The Media Consultants’ dedicated Crisis & Issues Management team offers three major points of difference:

  • Quality and background of trainers : The training would be conducted by our senior trainers. All of whom are former journalists with regional reporting experience. Our trainers have received accolades from dozens of senior executives who have benefited from our in depth knowledge of the media, coaching clients on how to appropriately respond no matter what the question, and how they can be on message every time.

  • Scope of the training : To ensure our clients’ time is maximized, our Media Handling in a Crisis Programme will provide a challenging scenario that unfolds during the session, presenting a variety of issues that need to be addressed in 3 typical broadcast situations: an ‘ambush’ or ‘door-stop’ type of interview, an intensive one-on-one, and a press conference in which our clients will need to quickly draft a statement and tackle challenging questions from journalists and other stakeholders.

  • Experience in working with a wide variety of senior executives in Asia-Pacific : Our trainers have conducted similar intensive sessions with senior executives across various industries, including Bluetooth, LG, Merck, ChevronTexaco, New York Life, Cathay Pacific, and many others.
